Infrastructure Engineer
Infrastructure Engineer
Team: Engineering - Location: Stockholm
Pacera unifies financial close, consolidation and FP&A into one intelligent platform. With AARO, Aico and Mercur, finance teams turn trusted data into AI-driven insight — powering robust, scalable, and smarter decision-making for the Office of the CFO.
About the role
We're looking for a Mid/Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure team of 6 and help operate and maintain the production environment behind our SaaS platform. We run our own private cloud rather than relying on public cloud services, so the work sits close to the infrastructure: hands-on server operations across Linux and Windows virtual machines, running on VMware and OpenStack, supporting applications built on Java and .NET, with some services also running in Azure.
Our environment relies on client VPNs and IPSEC point-to-point tunnels for remote and site connectivity, so solid networking and firewall knowledge is important. We manage our infrastructure as code, using tools such as Ansible and Terraform. This is a hands-on operational role focused on installing, configuring and troubleshooting, and on keeping our platform reliable, secure and performing well in production.
What You'll Do
Operate and monitor production infrastructure for our SaaS platform, ensuring high availability and performance
Install, configure, manage and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers and virtual machines in production
Administer and optimise virtualisation infrastructure on VMware and OpenStack
Manage and troubleshoot client VPN access and IPSEC point-to-point tunnels, working with firewalls and network infrastructure
Support the deployment, monitoring and performance of Java and .NET applications running in production
Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code to provision, configure and manage our environment
Respond to and resolve incidents, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence
Perform routine maintenance: patching, updates, backups and capacity planning
Build and maintain monitoring, alerting and automation to reduce manual operational work
Collaborate with development teams to support releases, and log and track work in our ticketing system
Maintain documentation for infrastructure, processes and runbooks
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
Several years' hands-on experience administering Linux and/or Windows Server in production. We'd ideally like you to be strong in Linux and comfortable with Windows, but specialists with deep expertise in one are welcome
Good understanding of underlying infrastructure and virtualisation, and of private cloud/IaaS platforms such as VMware or OpenStack
Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, OS and application layers
Comfortable owning incidents in a production environment with high uptime requirements
Working knowledge of networking and firewalls, including client VPNs and IPSEC tunnels
Scripting skills (e.g. Bash, PowerShell, Python) and a drive to automate
Familiarity supporting production applications built on Java or .NET
Ability to get up to speed quickly in complex environments and work independently
Nice-to-haves:
Hands-on experience with VMware and OpenStack
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform or Bicep
Experience with Datadog or similar observability platforms
Experience with Jira or a similar ticketing system
Experience with NixOS
Experience with container-based environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with Microsoft Azure (or another public cloud) in a production setting
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Familiarity with firewall platforms (Clavister, Fortinet)
Relevant certifications (VMware VCP, Linux, Microsoft/Azure, OpenStack, or networking certs like CCNA)
Prior experience in a SaaS or always-on production environment
What we offer
The opportunity to be part of our next phase of growth and expansion, backed by strategic private equity investment
Competitive compensation and benefits package including pension, flex hours, wellness allowances and more
Hybrid working options
